Two of the most interesting teams in the tournament clash at Twickenham on Saturday with South Africa rounding into form after their shock opening loss to Japan, while Wales try to cope with their every growing injury list. Liam Williams was the latest to be ruled out, and they really are down to the bare bones in the backs, with a recovering Eli Walker called into the squad in the hope he might be fit for a potential semi-final.
Getting there will take some doing, but Wales did win their last clash with the Springboks, 12-6 in Cardiff last November. This looks a better South African team though, and their power and ball-carrying ability will test the Welsh. Warren Gatland’s team are well set-up to deal with big, strong players running hard, but the Springboks have the nous of Fourie du Preez at scrum-half offering them a little more subtlety when needed.
As a result we think South Africa should have just enough to edge this one, look for them to win by 1-7.
