- Chiefs look to heap more misery on Maritzburg
- Wits still undefeated ahead of Golden Arrows clash
- Sundowns poised to put more past Free State Stars
Platinum Stars are looking to bounce back from a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Bidvest Wits when they take on Polokwane City. That was the first defeat of the season for Dikwena, who had not lost in their previous eight league matches, while almost the exact opposite is true for City, who had not won since opening day before recording a 3-2 win over rock-bottom Maritzburg United last time out.
Bidvest Wits are top of the table ahead of their clash against Golden Arrows, and undefeated in their last eight. That could spell danger for Arrows, who were beaten 3-1 by Kaizer Chiefs in their most recent game.
Kaizer Chiefs will be licking their lips at the thought of taking on bottom-of-the-table Maritzburg United, and will be heavy favourites despite their inconsistent form this season. There’s little doubt that the Team of Choice will need a miracle against Amakhosi, and their recent 1-0 win over University of Pretoria, which stopped a run of eight consecutive defeats, will offer only the faintest glimmer of hope.
Ajax Cape Town have been in some terrible form of late, going without a win in their last five matches in all competitions. The good news for the Urban Warriors is that SuperSport United have also been struggling and without a win in their last three, to sit one point behind their next opponents in the league standings, while Matsatsantsa have not beaten Ajax in their last six encounters.
Mamelodi Sundowns have won eight of their last nine (drawing the other one) to march up to second in the Premiership standings, and they will be confident in their match against Free State Stars. Ea Lla Koto have not tasted defeat in their last five league games, winning three of those, but came across the Brazilians in the League Cup as recently as last month, when they were thrashed 6-1.
